DTT at Le Pradet

Istres week early, but after the short break 11 November, holiday and bridge AFPA (Association for Adult Vocational Training). Wednesday evening sees me land at Toulon, when Ronald stayed recently with TNT. After swallowing a real hot dog New York (nod to Lionel, my cousin is currently on US soil !) – Finally, this is what was noted on the menu at the house… and many hot dog ! – we reach La Valette-du-Var and a friend of Ronald. It is right in his recording studio “Homemade in the garden”. We sleep there after an evening end in a pretty starry sky !

Thursday will be a relaxing day at the edge of the rough sea by the mistral blowing already since yesterday. Ronald plays guitar, my camera, until the evening when we were invited to dinner with a couple of friends. Their apartment is only a few minutes from the beach and we spent a pleasant evening with good wine, good food and good music !

Evening Pradet

We returned to the same spot yesterday to spend the night (Free up, flat ground and public toilets, what more ?). Today we start to attack the island of Porquerolles. We drive to the Presqu'Île Giens, after an impromptu stop at Carqueiranne (oh well the boat will not leave here ?), before arriving at La Tour Fondue, a former defensive instead of the 17th century, very poor as the name may indicate (!) and inaccessible to the public.

Boat to Porquerolles

Seventeen euros round trip for one person, Fortunately we are in low season ! Twenty-five minutes after crossing a brochure and we are disembarking at the port village of Porquerolles. Another splurge, we rent bikes “In Nanard”, eleven euro bike for the afternoon (if you have bikes, better to take them with you on the boat : three euros round trip, and no usage limits, we had to bring them before 16:30). Two sandwiches and a bottle of water in the bag and off we went on the island trails.

The latter is not small (7,5 km long 3 wide) and we climb the first road to Fort Sainte Agathe, first built work on the island in the 12th century. Short stop at the Mill of Happiness and we head towards the cove of the Indian : although very steep, it is sheltered from the wind and we can eat quietly, facing the sea.
