But not enough sleep much after the long journey to the city-state ! It is fourteen hours passed when I emerge from the bed, my cousin is already up. Quick toilet to try to get the shuttle to Orchard Road (recommended location), but the latter has already left. So we return to the path of the day before, nearest direction metro entrance. The MRT only has three lines, EW (East-West), the one we took yesterday to come from the airport to the city center, the NS (North-South) and the NE (North-East), in which we enter at the China Town stop to go up to Little India.
We walk along Serangoon Road, avenue which crosses the entire Indian district. Nothing exciting here, if not the architecture and the appearance of the people encountered. Once again my cousin tries local food (all dishes remain quite spicy, which is not to please my palate !), before continuing further up to take the MRT to Farrer Park. We go back down to Dhoby Ghaut, to sink into Orchard Road : huge avenue where shopping centers seem to have grown as easily as weeds !
My cousin is looking for a laptop at an attractive price, so we skim two, three electronics stores (after having noted their addresses given by one of the city's tourist offices), but Takashimaya and Centrepoint (shopping centers) only offer unattractive prices. We have one last address left, near Little India… where we come from ! I haven't really recovered from the jet lag and we're putting off this purchase until later.
Back on the subway, we go down to Clarke Quaye, near the Singapore river like the place we stopped last night. A strange neighborhood full of pubs and restaurants with diverse and varied concepts, a little too much “fantasy land” to my taste ! But music catches our ears and we stop for a drink at Crazy Elephant, who plays blues rock around wooden tables. A screen displays funny stories and announces “live music every night”, so we sit inside to eat. A band plays blues covers (Freddie King, Creedance Clearwater Revival, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix…) so good that I stay until the end, my cousin having returned to the hotel.
The group recently finished, a Metallica song (Whisky in the Jar, reprise de Thin Lizzy) accompanies me for the end of my pint and I return to the hotel, stopping at the same internet café to give you news of those who walk upside down !

Hi Marc
Sim Lim Square has good bargains but can be crowded sometimes.
They can go there by taxi or 5-10 minutes walk from the Bugis MRT (train) station.
