Last revival in Malaysia, still a lie – is that it takes a few days to adjust and we will soon add an offset time ! En attendant c’est petit-déjeuner à Matahari Lodge – the same as there are five days – RM and for some they take our dirty laundry promising that it will be dry before we left. They also have an enclosed area where they can store luggage, This will avoid us to walk with all our stuff on our last day here.
Un petit tour sur Kasturi Walk, shopping street, to find two pairs of flip flops to one 20RM (5€) and a universal adapter at the same price. That's all for purchases, direction KL Sentral for our last sightseeing. For 8RM (2€) chacun nous voilà dans le KTM Komuter – RER – towards the Batu Caves ten kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur, where we arrived half an hour later.
In a limestone hill, some caves have been converted into temples creating the largest Hindu Shrine outside India. They are dedicated to Kartikeya – war god in Hinduism – whose immense golden statue seems to keep the entrance to the main cave : Cathedral Cave, next senior stairs 272 steps leading to. Rain and long-tailed macaques – ou macaques crabiers – we welcome on the site.
If the visit is free women must have legs covered, bad luck I came out in shorts having entrusted my pants to the washing machine. It will cost me two or three RM – sorry I forgot, mais bon vingt centimes de différence ! – because down the stairs two women dressed me in a sort of sarong in exchange 5RM, if you make them leaving the premises they repay you part. Strange caution because the veil is transparent and seen the size of my legs, they are finally covered only three quarts ! 😀
After climbing the stairs we find ourselves at the heart of a rather impressive size cave you will unfortunately few pictures because it was very dark. A little further a few more steps lead to the main temple, in most monkeys, roosters and hens roam freely. We hang a few moments in the cool of the cave before beginning the descent of the stairs. These are really not very wide – perhaps our Western feet – and made slippery by rain, then if the return is less tiring it is somewhat more risky !
Reached down, we start looking for a restaurant where the dishes are not too spicy in the street from the site. Here are held tight against each other souvenir shops, postcards, clothing, coconut juice drink vendors directly into the nuts as they prepare them directly on the curb, cutting coconuts few strokes specific machete and a restaurant fries, vegetarian sandwiches and burgers when we settle (53RM – 13€).
Leaving the caves, we pass in front of the huge statue of Hanuman : god of wisdom, boss wrestlers, it is a Vanara : People curious monkey and brave, described in Ramanaya : mythological epic and wrote fundamental to Hinduism.
Back to modern civilization and the sometimes surprising prohibited for Western since in the Malaysian RER it seems to be forbidden to embrace if we are to believe the signs. 😉 Rentrés à Matahari Lodge, we wait cool, Ashley even invites us to take a shower if we wish. At eighteen hours last time we thank Ashley for their hospitality and kindness and travel the same route as there six days but coming back this time our steps. A metro station, KLIA Express to the airport where we look for a moment our flight on large billboards…
