Back to the canvas, reappearance of a motorhome, all this for a new beginning, a revival of traveling adventures where you can “draw [your] need for renewal” ! If I am writing the first article of this brand new site this evening, it is only in one week to the day, we will hit the road with our second habitable vehicle for a weekend “crash test” ! But before going any further, let's go back a few months : the 17 January 2010.
My research on the internet and my emails sent in mass will not have been in vain, we have finally found a used motorhome at a more than affordable price. We hit the road on a Sunday to see the beast and maybe try it. The Three Pigeons garage, uninviting name but friendly owners, is located at the exit of Luynes, district of the municipality of Aix-en-Provence, in the Bouches-du-Rhône. The motorhome is here : the owner had warned us that the interior had to be redone following infiltrations, the former occupant having pierced the ceiling somewhat wildly to fix a canteen (!). The damage appears to be less extensive than we expected and the engine should have within 142 000km (five digit counter, unable to verify !), a reasonable distance for a motorhome below 5000 EUR.
3500 EUR, an engine that works and an interior to redo to our liking with the margin we have left on the planned budget (4000 – 5000 euros maximum !), we have barely left when we decide to turn around (after a moment of reflection on the terrace of a cafe in Luynes, and a phone call to my father who will do the work) to pay a deposit and reserve our future motorhome. The following Saturday it is with a friend that we return to Luynes : we settle the final details of the sale and Ronald leaves behind the wheel of our new home !
The embellishment work began with the beautiful days, I let you discover the slideshow (also visible on the page Snapshots) below to discover the work of my father : the new interior decoration (well advanced but not yet complete !), we still have the bedding and the curtains to do, some finishes and to decide on the exterior look, the purchase of a solar panel is also planned… But nothing stops it from rolling ! So from next weekend you will have new lines to read, more photos to view and maybe some videos !
PS. : the site is complete on the whole but some errors may persist (and two are missing, three little things… coming !), do not hesitate to let me know (a link to a contact form is at the bottom of the page), any suggestions are also welcome !
Thanks for the company Wednesday night and big (s?) Kisses !
